Our Concept
The outer framework
The outer framework of the training consists of comprehensive home-study and distanced learning, as well as the quarterly meetings of the participants in northern Italy. The content of our studies is focused on the 6 books of the series “Initiatory Training in Arco”. These books describe the path of spiritual training, which Heinz Grill calls the path of spiritual-mental training, that is to say, the training path of the “New Will in Yoga”. (see "Literature").
It is our intention that participants will have already worked through the central thoughts of each book in their own home-study, when we meet together in the quarterly seminars to deepen our work with lectures and discussion-groups. The Initiatory Training is not an educational event in which theoretical knowledge will be taught. The whole movement of the training is not one of the passive transmission of knowledge to participants, but it is the participants’ interest and effort itself which brings them closer to a deeper understanding of esoteric content. The priority in the seminars is that participants should have the possibility with their own thinking of comprehending the esoteric statements about the soul and spiritual reality of human existence and the principles of a spiritual training. In this way they can establish themselves in their individuality in the right way in relation to the teaching matter.
The inner aspect
Initiation, that is to say the actual transforming power on a path of training, occurs through
the meeting we have with a person whose entire thinking, feeling and willing is founded
in the spiritual realm. Heinz Grill describes this experience of initiation as follows:
"Students notice the reality of the spiritual, or the immortal realm, and they notice how it is independent of flesh and blood, as well as of personal ability. They notice in their silent knowledge, or innermost love and devotion, a high, unfathomable soul-existence which is able to work through the body, but does not come from it. In these moments life takes a quite crucial turn. The personal, outer consciousness yields to that fiery, blessed love and the eyes begin to see a hidden light. That love is a soul-love and it is higher, purer and greater than all human feeling. The perception is also greater and far more direct than the ethical and moral feeling still bound to the duality. The soul´s light of truth, which streams into the heart of the student with this first-hand experience, is so mysterious and so direct, because it comes from the light of the spirit and has no real connection to the old, inherited tendencies. With this light those doors open which would otherwise never be opened."
Heinz Grill has agreed to be present for about one hour every day in our quarterly seminars. We need to leave open how he will shape the content of these sessions. In the encounter between a spiritual teacher and a student there lives an imponderable, sometimes even surprising instant, which is created totally from the innermost relationship of that moment. Our ideal: the synthesis of study and initiation
For the training we aim for an ideal balance between the (exoteric) element of a lively intense study on the training path and the (esoteric) initiatory element of the encounter between teacher and student.
